Our Experience with "ADHD"
My son was diagnosed at a VERY young age as having ADHD1. Through this life, he had many 'disorders' added to the diagnosis of ADHD1, those being OCD2, ODD3, PTSD4, Bipolar. We went to NUMEROUS doctors, psychiatrists, etc. They put my son on every medication under the sun. The meds would work for a while and then just __stop__. We were constantly on a roller coaster with moods.
In 2004, we made some startling discoveries. My husband lost his medical insurance and we weren't able to buy those expensive medications for our son anymore. I thought we were going to have so many problems. However, around this same time, something else changed in our lives. I had stumbled into a site about fluoride in our water, which lead to me researching more about toxins in our personal care and cleaning products, then on to artificial dyes and their affects on people. (If you'd like to know more about how toxins affect us, check this site out: Toxins and Poisons)
Well, we installed a R/O water filter, changed our home over to non-toxic products and stopped buying things with the Red40 artificial dye in it. Guess what happened?? My sons 'symptoms' of ADHD were GONE. He no longer had his fits of anger/rage anymore.
The only time we have problems now is when he's around someone with strong perfume on; the smell of cleaning products; strong candles and the like; or if he happens to accidentally eat something with Red40 in it. One other thing that we noticed....He can't swim in chlorinated pools either. The chlorine in the water affects him.
I honestly feel very guilty about not learning more about how so many things that you buy in the store have neurotoxins in them and how they affect us. I'm just glad that we DID find out and that we made the changes.
